More Germanics

After 80 days on Holiday in Australia in the sun I have returned to France and based up some of the figures I completed whilst being away. I had a small shopping spree at Cancon Australias largest Wargames convention around 25 thousand people over 4 days playing tabletop games plus general public. It was great to catch up with a few of the mates, look at some great looking tables and games and help my unpainted pile grow a little where I clocked the business class baggage allowance by 2kg…..!

AHPC Aussie “bad batch” with my first purchase French guard cavalry

I brought these Germanics with me on holidays in Oz, where they travelled the east coast for 1300klm, every  now and then I managed to get quite a few painted when there was wet weather or we were not visiting friends. I failed in my planning bring enough transfers to complete all of the painted ones. So now ordered and hopefully they will arrive some time this week.

The figures are a mix of Warlord Germanics, Foundry Germanics and some hand painted and decal shields.

Germanic Tribesmen Marcommanni

Germanic Tribesmen

Off the table are some Germanic tribesmen units, a mix of Foundry, Warlord and some Victrix bits. A lot of work to get them to fit properly on the 60 x 60 bases as anybody who has warlord miniatures will find they are difficult to fit on bases to get them tightly fitted particularly.  The first unit references the temple worship with a wooden Woden as the standard, which is a foundry miniature that inspired the totem I scratch built.

The second unit has a Hare standard which is a decal, again a mix of miniatures, decals are from LBM and Warlord. The wicker shields are hand painted runes. I have around 100 more of these to complete. I have based some individual miniatures for skirmish miniatures.

The beginnings of my late Republican /Caesarian Roman’s for the conquest of Gaul. I have already started a few pieces but the main effort has commenced with my artillery and soon some command then the infantry in suspect in March as I need to complete a few foreign orders ….

The miniatures are from Warlord Games, I have one more onager to complete which is getting a small conversion and some crew variance

Indians lots of ‘em

 Indians

Ok not lots of them, but a few additions to my FIW collection. Again from the old conquest range now owned by Warlord Games. I am sort of happy the the flesh colour. I am sure they are from different tribes as the head roachs are very different and if I remember correctly conquest had a whole series of articles on his blog about the differences.

Magua why do you hate the grey hair

Mauga a leader of his people

Next if the painting desk is the old conquest (now Warlord) Magua miniature. I really like the miniature and have tried to copy the paint scheme later in the movie. I really love the character in the book and Wes Studi done a fine job in the movie.
